Press Release: LPF Appoints Sean Bailey as Interim Executive Director

Washington, D.C. (November 20th, 2025) – Leveling the Playing Field (LPF) is proud to officially announce the appointment of Sean Bailey as Interim Executive Director (IED). Bailey takes over the role following the departure of LPF Founder Max Levitt from the organization to pursue new opportunities in July 2025. Bailey brings two decades of leadership experience guiding organizations through growth, change, and transformation to LPF. His responsibilities will center on strengthening operations, supporting LPF staff, and positioning LPF for long-term success in expanding access to sports for all children.

Under Bailey’s leadership, and ultimately, the leadership of the next Executive Director, LPF will continue to deepen its impact in its seven existing markets, while also exploring opportunities to expand its footprint to meet growing community needs nationwide. In Sean’s first few weeks, he has already visited LPF warehouse locations, met staff members, and spoken with several partners and community leaders. LPF’s Board of Directors will continue their search for the organization’s next Executive Director in 2026.

“We are excited for this next chapter in LPF’s evolution,” says Tracy Scarrow, LPF Board Chair. “Over the coming months, Sean and the Board will continue the important work of preparing LPF for its next Executive Director. In the meantime, we are confident that LPF is in excellent hands with Sean and look forward to the progress we will make together.”

“Thank you for welcoming me into this role. I’m excited for the road ahead and grateful to be a part of an organization that believes, as I do, that every child deserves the chance to play,” says Bailey. “For more than a decade, LPF has demonstrated what is possible when committed partners, generous supporters, and passionate volunteers come together around a simple but powerful mission: ensuring that all young people, regardless of family income or circumstance, have access to the sports equipment and opportunities they deserve.”

To partners and donors, Bailey says, “Your support is the backbone of everything we do. You enable us to expand access, respond to growing demand, and say ‘yes’ to more schools, coaches, and administrators who rely on us. I look forward to meeting many of you personally and learning more about the programs and communities you care about most.”

Did you know that about 12.6 million kids don’t have access to structured summer opportunities due to costs and other barriers (Afterschool Alliance, 2026)? That’s more than half of the nation’s kids!

There’s still time to make a difference! Every donation to our Summer of Play campaign helps unlock benefits of summer camp, including 63% of parents reporting their child continues to participate in new activities he or she learned at camp. (stats provided by the American Camp Association).

All contributions are matched through midnight, tonight, until we reach $20,000! Will your donation be the one to help us surpass our goal?
Remember playing tag, soccer, basketball, or kickb Remember playing tag, soccer, basketball, or kickball with new friends at summer camp? Play is a staple of summer, but for many kids there is a financial barrier keeping them on the sidelines.

LPF helps remove this barrier by providing free sports equipment to programs like @camp_jamison

Across three years, Camp Jamison staff picked up 361 pieces of sports equipment from LPF including tennis balls and rackets, cones, skateboards, and basketball gear. The basketball gear from LPF was a game changer for campers who don’t play basketball regularly, and reinforced what Camp Jamison is all about: building skills, relationships, and confidence to navigate life with a purpose.

Through LPF's Summer of Play campaign, you can help us create more cherished sports memories for kids across the country. For every $100 donated, we can equip 20 kids to enjoy all that sports have to offer this summer.

Together, we can provide free gear and a summer of PLAY for 50,000 kids. Check out our story and bio for more info!
