Denise Blake

Executive Director
LPF National

Denise Blake has held key positions in equity-centered nonprofit organizations focusing on education, food insecurity, public health, and more. Early in her career at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change, Denise served as Education and Training Coordinator where she was responsible for designing training curricula for adult learners. She also led important research on the philosophy of nonviolent social change. At the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, Denise managed the foundation’s educational scholarship, internship and fellowship programs. Denise then served as Associate Director for the FaithFactor program at the Interdenominational Theological Center and later was Senior Project Director for The Annie E. Casey Foundation’s Making Connections Media Outreach Initiative. She managed the charitable foundation for former Atlanta Falcons’ defensive tackle Rod Coleman, providing support to youth in foster care, and served as Project Director for the Twenty-First Century Foundation’s Black Men and Boys Media Outreach Campaign.

In 2013, Denise became the Executive Director of WINGS for kids – Atlanta, where she oversaw delivery of WINGS’ award-winning social-emotional learning after-school program. Subsequently, Denise served the United Negro College Fund’s Atlanta office as Senior Development Director and Mothers Against Drunk Driving as National Director of Field Operations. Most recently, she held the role of Chief Impact Officer at Reading Partners, a literacy organization for elementary school students.

Denise brings a distinguished record of nonprofit leadership spanning education, youth development, literacy, public health, and community impact. Her experience building high-performing teams and advancing equity-centered initiatives will help LPF continue expanding access to sports and physical activity for young people in communities across the country.

Contributions to our Summer of Play campaign suppo Contributions to our Summer of Play campaign supports camps and programs offering popular summer activities like swimming! Teaming with programs like @waves4change.official keeps kids active outside of school, and helps partners maximize their budget for other needs, such as pool time

In one of LPF’s largest distributions ever, Waves4Change received over 30 boxes of brand new boys and girls' swimsuits

Since 2025, LPF has distributed $77,000 worth of swimming gear to Waves4Change! With these donations, kids can focus on what Waves4Change calls "the superhero magic of swimming," without worrying about the costs of proper equipment
