Executive Director, National Genealogical Society
Vice Board Chair
Matt is a nonprofit professional and holds the Certified Association Executive credential. He is the Executive Director of the National Genealogical Society, with 9000 members throughout the US, Canada, and overseas. He has served as a nonprofit CEO/Executive Director or ops director for 20 years. Before genealogy, Matt’s nonprofit career spanned much of the natural resources community including coastal management, outdoor recreation, fish and wildlife management, and forestry.
Matt swam and played a little soccer growing up, but really enjoys being outdoors paddling, boating, camping, and skiing. Matt and his family are building up their skiing skills so they can compete in the X-Games.
Matt has lived through the “pain of defeat” in sports many times, including multiple Cleveland Browns playoff heartbreaks in the 80s, the Browns’ move to Baltimore, and what was a streak of Nats’ Game 5 defeats. All that pain, however, is mitigated by the joy that still lingers from the two World Series moments . . . finishing the fight in 2019 (Go Nats!) and the Mets win over Boston when Buckner booted the ball!
