Career Strategist, Career Compass/Reitkopp Recruiting
Vice Chair
As an entrepreneur and executive recruiter with over 25 years of experience working with clients and professionals, Melissa Reitkopp has successfully built a network of talent. As a public speaker and trainer, Melissa often shares her knowledge about careers with diverse audiences; grad students at Georgetown University, professionals at AmStat, and formerly with Peace Corps Volunteers in Guatemala. She recently expanded her network when she was selected/completed the Leadership Greater Washington program as the Class of 2019, “Raising the Bar”.
In DC, prior to joining Leveling the Playing Field’s board where she serves as the vice chair, Melissa participated on a number of non-profit boards. It was her family’s involvement in sports that led them to Max Levitt. Initially they volunteered and quickly got more involved. Melissa has played, refereed, coached soccer for over 42 years, and finally hung up her cleats in early 2018. She became a yoga student in 1997 and still works on improving her headstand. Recently Melissa re-discovered her bicycle.
In the past few years, Melissa has added author to her list of accomplishments, and writes both fiction and non-fiction; her blogs about career related topics or promoting Leveling the Playing Field can be found on LinkedIn. Melissa believes strongly that when the right people come together with the right projects than together the results improve. She lives her life as a connector…Melissa makes the DC Metro area home with her husband and their blended family (five children, three cats, and two dogs).
